7. Abstract
: This paper proposes enhanced dead-time compensation method reducing the effects of current polarity detection inaccuracy for a 3-level hybrid active neutral point clamped (HANPC) inverter. The pole voltage error caused by dead-time depends on the polarity of the phase current. However, it is difficult to accurately detect the polarity of phase currents in zero-crossing (ZC), which leads to unintended compensation error involving additional current distortion. In this paper, the proposed method modifies the reference voltage to prevent pole voltage error during ZC interval. Specifically, the ZC interval is determined by predicting the maximum ripple of the phase currents, and the reference voltage is clamped to zero during this interval. As a result, the proposed method effectively reduces current distortion by preventing pole voltage error during ZC interval while maintaining dead-time compensation outside the interval. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by experimental results.
